Treat Yourself – MFT Stamps

Today’s the day! The vault is open and live in the shop! For today’s inspiration, I made an inky background and paired it with the adorable gumboil machine die set.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Create an ink background on distress watercolor paper. Spray the following distress ink sprays on a craft mat (or the white mat that comes with the Tim Holtz glass mat. This is because the inks bead up better on this silicon surface and gives you a better look in my opinion): picked raspberry, squeezed lemonade, carved pumpkin and saltwater taffy. Spray each color in various places on the mat so all of the same color is not concentrated in a single area. Spritz your panel with a little water and the inks with a little water. Smoosh your panel into the inks, lift, dry, and repeat until you get the desired effect. Add water droplets throughout the process to add more texture and mottling. The key is to dry between layers – Wet on wet, mixes, wet on dry, layers.
  2. Once the panel is completely dry, trim is down by a 0.25 inch.
  3. Stamp and white heat emboss a sentiment from Gumball Greetings at the bottom.
  4. Die cut all of the pieces from Gumball Machine Die-namics from white, yellow, and gold mirror cardstock. Adhere the layers together to form the machine. Add some light ink blending on the edges for depth.
  5. From the panel, die cut the gumball window and add in a Circle Shaker Pouch.
  6. Die cut several gumballs from several coordinating colors of cardstock the shaker bits. Add in a few sequins for some sparkle.
  7. Splatter the panel with white paint, covering the gumball bowl.
  8. Adhere the card together, adding to an A2 card base with a piece of patterned paper from Notebook Paper.
  9. Add white pen details to the gumball machine and gumballs using a white posca pen.
